Georgetown Loop Railroad
Try something new this weekend and head up to Georgetown and hop on the train for dinner! If you’ve lived in Denver for a while, chances are that you’re familiar with the Georgetown Loop train but thought that was only for tourists or for you to do when you had family visiting from out of town. But did you know that they now offer many fun theme train rides… such as the Wine Tasting and Hors d’Oeuvre’s Train. A Moonlight in the Mountains Dinner Train, Pumpkinfest Train, Oktoberfest Train and even a Holiday Lights Train.
For you wine lovers, each weekend during the summer they feature different wines from different regions around the world on the Wine Tasting Train. If you prefer the idea of a unique dinner experience, try the Moonlight in the Mountains Dinner Train where you’ll enjoy a catered dinner which will be served in the enclosed cars while the train is atop the Golden Gate High Bridge. If you’ve got kids, I’m sure they would love the Santa’s North Pole Adventure Train. Check their website for more information and I hope you enjoy the ride!

Yes, you read that correctly, Drop your Drawers and Run Wild is a 5k run/walk that takes place at City Park on August 27th. Don’t worry, you don’t have to run in your undies, just run to support “underwearness”. The founders of Underwearness are young professionals that felt the need to do something when they learned that many underprivileged children simply do not have underwear, clean or otherwise, so they decided to do something about it. The Underwearness organization was formed to “help children one pair at a time”. That sounds like a great cause to me!
Click hereto sign up for Drop Your Drawers and Run Wild. This event takes place on in the evening on Friday, August 27th and there’s a 5k run/walk or you can do the 1 mile walk through the Denver Zoo. After the race, there will be live music, after-hours zoo viewing and a food and beer garden. Participants are asked to bring packages of new children’s underwear for donation. Proceeds from this event will go to Denver Public Schools for distribution to the 900+ homeless children that currently attend DPS schools.
I hope to see you on the 27th supporting this great cause!
